Rolling around in an overwhelming field of green
The moment is complete, just the four of us
I am watching over
A child begins to approach
The perfect playtime is at risk
Yet they don’t seem threatened
They know I am watching over
Watching over as my newborns jump into the arms of a stranger
Giving her kisses
Letting her play
I cant help but watch over
Will she hurt them?
I am watching
Will I be able to protect my own?
I continue sitting up, watching my young
I will do anything for my own
I'm relieved that the sun begins to set as I watch over
Her mother is calling
“I’ll be back tomorrow pups” She yelled as she ran home
Tomorrow came early, this stranger returned
My litter is eager as I watch over
They begin to pounce and tackle and lick
I watch over
The young girl is rolling around with them
Suddenly, my playful pup nibbles on her finger
I continue to watch over
The messy one muddies her dress
I'm watching
My hyper one uncoils one of her curls
Now she will scowl at them
I am ready to protect as I watch over
To my surprise, the girl remains grinning
The sun begins to set too soon
I want to continue watching
She brushes off her dress and fixes her hair
“I’ll be back tomorrow pups” She yelled
And I watch over in this green field as the girl runs home
